JELLICOE ROAD - Not Just an Award Winner, A Great Read

This year's winner of the Michael L. Printz Award (given for excellence in literature written for young adults) is Melina Marchetta for her book Jellicoe Road. I finished this book last night and must say it qualifies for five stars in my rating system. The story follows Taylor Markham as she tries to put the pieces of her life together while trying to understand what a friendship between five teenagers twenty years ago has to do with her.

When I began the book, I kept thinking ..."This is the book that won the award? How?" But I didn't feel that way for long, because soon I was wrapped up in the life of Taylor and her classmates, the Townies, the Cadets and .. oh yes .. a friendship between five teenagers that started as a result of a horrendous accident twenty years earlier.

Jellicoe Road was such a good book that this morning I requested the other title we have by Melina Marchetta, Saving Francesca. GOOD READING!

I completely agree! This book was amazing, with an almost slightly confusing beginning, it took off - and I finished it in less than 2 days! Very good book.
